Feed tracker - Introduction

Wikinewsie.org automatically monitors a wide range of English-language RSS feeds from around the world. A database keeps track of the headlines from these feeds, presenting them here, and allowing reporters to quickly track down sources to use in their stories.

Technical information

Tracked feeds are polled on the hour, and regularly thereafter. If the content isn't current, and you've tried refreshing this page, then send an email to postmaster [at] wikinewsie [dot] org explaining the problem you're seeing.

Requesting additional feeds

You can help make the tracked feeds more comprehensive by making suggestions on Wikinews' Water Cooler. Please try to avoid news sources that require a user-subscription and do not request pay sources be added to the Wikinewsie feed tracker!

Currently tracked feeds

The initial list of tracked feeds was populated by referring to Wikipedia's list of news sources. Thus, feeds from sites such as All Africa, Asia Times, BBC News, CNN, The European Parliament, IRIN, The Jakarta Post, Radio France International and Think Africa Press are already included.

This list is by no means comprehensive, and readers/users are encouraged to suggest additional feeds that can readily be placed into the broad categories listed in the menu.

About the Wikinews feed

In the sidebar of this page a multilingual feed, combining several language versions of Wikinews, is available for you to refer to. This is ordered by publication date for articles on the selected Wikinews versions; consequently, where any one version publishes a batch of stories, it may make up most—or all—of the displayed items.

The English-language feed is always available on the home page, and various other Wikinews feeds are displayed on other pages throughout the site — for example, English-language Original reporting is displayed on the Email setup page.

Source templating

By clicking on the [src] link next to any article listed below, the wiki markup required to cite that item on a Wikinews will appear here. You can then cut and paste this into any article you are submitting on Wikinews.
