General information.
Email accounts are generally only provided to contributors who have been through the community
accreditation process on the English Wikinews project.
For those who have just been issued with an email account, please log in via the above link to
Reporters' email, and change your password!
Below are the general settings you may use with a PC-based email client. The menu to the
left gives screenshots for setting up specific clients, including the definition of an
appropriate signature/disclaimer.
Inbound email ^
Inbound email (i.e. email to you as a reporter) may be collected using the POP3
protocol. The server to specify is, pop.secureserver.net. Regrettably, this
does not support TLS or SSL, so you will be logging in over an unencrypted connection.
You must specify your full email address as the username when logging in to
collect email.
Outbound email ^
Outbound email (email you send) goes via the SMTP protocol. The server to specify is,
smtpout.secureserver.net. Again, there is no support for TLS or SSL, and you
must use your full email address as the username when authenticating with the mail server.
Should your Internet Service Provider block outbound traffic on port 25 (standard port for
SMTP, and such blocks are a common anti-spam measure), you may specify port 80 as a
nonstandard port to contact the mail server through.
